Around the same time I received the invitation to participate in the “Jardin Secret” exhibition at the Entretemps/Meanwhile gallery in early 2026, a European robin (Erithacus rubecula) made an appearance on the streets of the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood... This little bird, though common in Europe, had never been spotted on this side of the Atlantic before. The robin’s visit—not only the first time in the Americas, but also in my neighborhood and coinciding with my reflections on what my project for the “Jardin Secret” exhibition would be—was a completely improbable event of perfect synchronicity… it was like a mystical manifestation… It was impossible not to draw a connection to my favorite childhood movie: *The Secret Garden*.

In the film, the robin is a key character who embodies the call to curiosity and freedom, and acts as a spiritual guide in Mary’s quest. It leads her to discover the secret garden, thereby triggering its rebirth—simultaneously with that of Mary, her cousin, and her uncle. The magic of the garden will allow them to free themselves from their crutches—both literal and spiritual—and to reconnect emotionally with one another, with nature, and to find their place in the world…

Disclaimer
The dimensions given are approximate and can vary slightly. Each object is hand builded without the use of a potter wheel, and are never perfectly symmetrical. My pieces are all one of a kind functional artworks, and I favor artistic complexity over technical perfection. I produce the imagery on my pieces with multiple successive layers of colored porcelain, stoneware and minerals, so it is normal to perceive textures, small holes or separations between colors, or micro cracks in the frosting. Minimal flaws are to be expected. If there are more significant flaws that affect the function, the piece will be classified as ‘’seconds’’ and will be 50% off. If the flaw affects the beauty of the piece it will be marked as second and be 20% or 30% off. Please look at the images carefully as the imperfections are not hidden.
